The moving wedge is a solid steel implement with a compound blade angle. The strength and design of this wedge allows efficient cutting as the wood is pushed against the back plate. This slicing action is effective when splitting knotted or cross-grain woods and uses less hydraulic force than with other wedge designs.
The base plate is 1.75 inch thick steel, providing an excellent stabilizing base for logs as they are subjected to the cutting action of the wedge.
The Brave rail provides overall strength to the splitter and in the
horizontal position provides a resting platform for the log. It is a 3 by 6 reinforced rectangular tube. A reinforced H-beam is used in our 34-ton unit.
Brave engines are horizontal shaft engines. The horizontal shaft engine provides for superior lubrication, is durable, and has a longer life span.
The hydraulic pump is rated at 16 gallons per minute for our 26 and 34 ton units.
